/ About the project
Vietnam has a rich culture and a long history of over 20,000 years, but not all traditions were preserved until this day. This virtual exhibition looks into the lost history of ancient costumes that not many people, even the Vietnamese, know about. With a mission to encourage interest in Vietnamese culture and to support the ancient costume revival movement, we will go back to the very first trace of the Vietnamese costumes, and learn about the changes along the way as Vietnam became the country today.

/ design concept
To highlight both the traditional and modern aspects of this subject, texture-heavy elements like hand-drawn illustrations, fabric pieces, and burnt film photos are used side by side with the clean-looking sans serif font and vector icons. I created a set of illustrations combining the time-tested iconic drawing style of the artist Mai Trung Thu with modern humor. Pieces of manually ripped fabric were then scanned and used together with other elements as part of the graphic system.
/ applications
The project’s deliverables include a logo, promotional posters, an 11-page virtual exhibition web prototype, and a package of red envelopes as part of the exhibition’s merchandise.
